Japanese Wine, Spice & Okonomiyaki in Osaka

Pasania is a small reservation-only restaurant in Nakanoshima, Osaka. Japanese natural wine is at the center of what we do, alongside spice dishes inspired by South Indian cooking and adapted to Japanese ingredients, and Osaka-style okonomiyaki passed down through our family.

Depending on when you make your reservation, there are two ways to enjoy an evening at Pasania. Advance reservations begin with our Spice Set, while same-day reservations may be available for Japanese wine with okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and yaki udon.

Reservations

Pasania is a reservation-only restaurant. We do not accept walk-ins without a confirmed reservation.

Advance Reservations

Reservations can be made up to two months ahead and through the day before your visit.

For advance reservations, dining begins with our Spice Set (¥3,800 per person, including tax), followed by okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yaki udon, and other dishes from the menu.

Same-Day Reservations

Depending on availability, we may also be able to welcome you on the same day.

For same-day dining, we offer Japanese wine with okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and yaki udon. The Spice Set and other spice dishes are not available for same-day reservations.

Online same-day reservation requests are accepted until 6:00 PM. After 6:00 PM, please call us at +81-6-6225-7464.

Please note: Submitting either reservation form sends us a reservation request. Your reservation is not yet confirmed at that point. We will check availability and your reservation is confirmed only after you receive a confirmation email from Pasania.

Direct Reservations

Please make the reservation under the name of a guest who will actually be dining with us. To avoid misunderstandings, we do not accept reservations made by proxies. Please also avoid submitting duplicate reservation requests.

If calling from overseas is difficult, please use the appropriate online reservation form. Email and social media messages are not used for reservation requests, as we may not be able to respond in time.

Important Policies

Food Allergies

If you have food allergies, please let us know when making your reservation request. We will review the information carefully and accommodate where possible. However, we work in a small kitchen where many ingredients are handled, so we cannot guarantee the complete absence of cross-contact. Depending on the allergy, we may be unable to accept the reservation for safety reasons.

Fragrances

Wine aroma is an important part of the experience at Pasania. We therefore ask guests to refrain from wearing strong perfume, strongly scented cosmetics, hair products, deodorants, or strongly scented fabric softeners.

If a fragrance is strong enough to affect other guests’ enjoyment of the wine, we may unfortunately be unable to welcome you into the restaurant.

Smoking

The restaurant and the entire building are non-smoking. This includes e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

Late Arrivals

If you are running late, please call us as soon as possible. If more than 30 minutes have passed after your reservation time without any contact from you, we will treat the reservation as cancelled.

Changes & Cancellations

To change or cancel a confirmed reservation, please reply to your reservation confirmation email or call us. For urgent same-day or last-minute changes, please call us directly.

Please do not use social media DMs for reservation changes or cancellations, as we may not see them in time.

About the Spice Set

For reservations made by the day before your visit, the meal begins with our Spice Set. It draws on techniques and ideas from South Indian cooking, adapted to Japanese ingredients and designed to be enjoyed alongside the wines we pour.

  • Price: ¥3,800 per person, including tax
  • Includes: an assortment of spiced appetizers and two stewed dishes
  • After the Spice Set: you may order okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yaki udon, drinks, and other available dishes separately

The contents change with the season and what is available to us at the time.

For same-day reservations, the Spice Set and other spice dishes are not available. Same-day dining centers on Japanese wine with okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and yaki udon.

About Pasania

Pasania began as an Osaka-style okonomiyaki restaurant in 1965. Today, my sister and I continue that family tradition while bringing Japanese natural wine and our own approach to spice cooking to the same table.

Our okonomiyaki remains deliberately simple. We cook it slowly on the teppan so that the cabbage and other ingredients can keep their own character, then finish it with the sauce our family has long used.

Our wine list now centers on Japanese natural wines. Rather than looking for one particular style, we are interested in wines through which the relationships among vineyards, growers, places, and ways of making can be experienced. The wines available by the glass and bottle change frequently.

Our spice dishes come from a long interest in how food cultures travel, change, and take on new meanings in different places. We do not try simply to reproduce another cuisine. Instead, we work with techniques and ideas we have learned from South Indian cooking and consider how they might meet Japanese ingredients, Japanese wine, and the food already present at Pasania.

For us, Japanese wine, spice dishes, and okonomiyaki do not need to be fixed into a single pairing. We hope they can create different combinations over the course of an evening, allowing each guest to discover flavors and relationships in their own way.

If that sounds like the kind of evening you would enjoy while visiting Osaka, we would be pleased to share our table with you.

Reservation & Visit Information

Thank you for considering Pasania during your stay in Osaka. We hope the restaurant can be a place to spend an unhurried evening with Japanese wine and food.
